Arrive San Antonio, Texas - Tour Begins

One visit to San Antonio and it’s easy to see why it is often referred to as the “American Venice.” Sidewalk cafes, historic architecture and a beautiful river centerpiece make this a truly remarkable city. The sights and sounds of the holiday celebrations are sure to get you into the spirit. Following dinner, perhaps you will choose to enjoy the Fiesta de las Luminarias* as you stroll along the San Antonio River guided by more than 2,500 luminaries.

Day 2: Saturday, December 04, 2010
San Antonio

Your morning begins with a fascinating tour of San Antonio. History and culture abound with visits to the Mission San Jose, the second mission established by Fray Antonio Margil de Jesus in 1720; and the King William District which was established in the 1840’s. San Antonio and the Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution. People worldwide continue to remember the Alamo as a historic struggle against impossible odds – a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. The remainder of your day is at leisure to discover San Antonio on your own.

Day 3: Sunday, December 05, 2010
San Antonio - Fredericksburg - Bandera - San Antonio

The holiday season is a fabulous time to visit Fredericksburg, located in the heart of the Texas “hill country,” with events and decorations flavored by German heritage. You’ll find something for everyone on your list in this shopper’s paradise. Later, discover one of Fredericksburg’s best kept secrets during a demonstration and tasting at Chocolat, the only chocolatier to create liquid praline in the United States. Then, visit one of the hill country’s most historic vineyards for a tour and tasting of great local wines. Tonight, take out your spurs for dinner and rootin’ tootin' entertainment at an authentic dude ranch in the “Cowboy Capital of the World”, Bandera. The ranch is beautifully decorated for the holidays and certainly will be a highlight!

Day 4: Monday, December 06, 2010
San Antonio

Your morning is at leisure to discover San Antonio on your own. Later, enjoy a tour of the Institute of Texan Cultures*, San Antonio’s premiere cultural experience dedicated to enhancing the understanding of cultural history. Then you’ll visit the San Antonio Shoe (SAS) factory and see where these famous shows are made right before your eyes! Enjoy a cruise along the Paseo del Rio, also known as the Riverwalk, one of Texas’s most prized attractions. Experience the flavors of true Tex-Mex cuisine as you learn the art of cooking and making the perfect Margarita - then enjoy your creations. Tonight enjoy a truly spectacular Texas holiday performance!
