The Apparitions of Medjugorje

On June 24, 1981, six young people from the village of Bijakovici in the parish of Medjugorje, claimed to have seen an apparition, a white form with a child in her arms, on the hill called Crnica (currently known as Apparition Hill). They identified her as the Blessed Virgin Mary; however, the children were scared and they did not approach the apparition. The next day, four of these children felt strongly drawn to the same place they had seen the Blessed Mother the evening before. Two additional children joined them this day and again they saw the vision of Mary. This time they prayed with her and thus began the Our Lady Queen of Peace’s messages of peace, faith, conversion, prayer and fasting. Although much older now, the group of six visionaries still receive messages, some daily, and some annually on the anniversary of the apparitions, June 25. Since the original apparition, Medjugorje has become one of the most visited Marian shrines in the entire world.
