Guided Tour of Petra

Journey through Petra, a place surrounded by towering hills of rust-colored sandstone. Petra was unknown to the Western world until 1812. You'll enter the hidden city through the Siq, a narrow gorge that stretches out for over one kilometer and is flanked on either side by soaring cliffs. As you reach the end of the Siq, catch your first glimpse of Petra's most elaborate ruin, Al Khazneh - "the Treasury." This massive face of Petra presents a fabulous sight; it was carved out of the sandstone mountain. Your guide helps you discover the great history of this vast, unique city that was carved from rock more than 2,000 years ago by the Nebataeans. Petra was once the major junction for silk, spice and other trade routes linking Asia and Europe. Nothing can prepare you for the amazement upon exploring this new Wonder of the World.
