Calgary - Lake Louise
Today you will view the spectacular Moraine Lake and the awesome Valley of the Ten Peaks, the stunning and jagged "saw-toothed" mountains. This afternoon you arrive at the world-famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This hotel, called the "Diamond in the Wilderness," is surrounded with snow-frosted Rocky Mountain peaks, secluded next to a legendary lake and showcased by a majestic glacier. Spend the balance of the day indulging in the splendor of this magnificent resort. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.
Day 3: Tuesday, October 07, 2008
Lake Louise - Icefields Parkway - Banff
The highlight today is a journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway: behold majestic waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. Then you will continue on to the Columbia Icefields, where a special ride is in store for you (weather permitting) across this mass of glacial ice which is over 1,000 feet thick and represents the largest accumulation of ice south of the Arctic Circle. As you continue down the parkway, you will most likely see bears, furry marmots and stately elk. Stop at the always serene, and sometimes turquoise, Peyto Lake before arriving in Banff, your home for the next two nights. Today breakfast will be included.
Day 4: Wednesday, October 08, 2008
Banff
Today you will journey to lovely Bow Falls and the impressive Hoodoos, also known as the "Land of Sleeping Giants." Later, enjoy some time at leisure in the quaint village of Banff; you may choose to browse through the shops and museums, or just take in the natural beauty of the area. You may also choose an optional visit to Sulphur Mountain for an incredible tram ride that offers magnificent views of Banff and the nearby Rockies. Today breakfast and dinner will be included.
Day 5: Thursday, October 09, 2008
Banff - Rocky MountaineerĀ® Train - Kamloops
Board your train for the scenic journey of a lifetime. The Rocky MountaineerĀ® Train will take you on a spectacular voyage from Banff to Vancouver. Spend two days viewing coastal forests, roaring river canyons and lofty mountain peaks. Today you will pass the striking peaks of the Monashee Mountains. Tonight you arrive in Kamloops for an overnight stay. Today breakfast and lunch will be included.
Day 6: Friday, October 10, 2008
Kamloops - Vancouver, British Columbia
Continue west aboard your train as your route takes you along the fields of the verdant Fraser Valley and the historic Fraser River. You will also view the beauty of the Thompson River and the shimmering, fish-filled waters of Kamloops Lake. Early this evening your train journey ends as you arrive in the beautiful city of Vancouver. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.
Day 7: Saturday, October 11, 2008
Vancouver
Experience the splendor of Vancouver with a sightseeing tour that begins at Stanley Park, an "urban" temperate rainforest.
