Collette Foundation responds to disaster in Japan

03/15/2011 - Collette Vacations will match all donations up to $10,000 to support earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.

Pawtucket, Rhode Island ... The Collette Foundation has pledged to support the efforts of Save the Children following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that ravaged Japan on March 11th. The 8.9 magnitude earthquake caused a tsunami that struck Friday following the earthquake, leaving thousands dead and thousands more missing.

Save the Children has been operating in Japan for over 25 years. Currently, they have response teams on the ground assisting with relief, manning evacuation centers and focusing on the children affected by this great tragedy. The mission of The Collette Foundation is to improve the quality of life for children in the worldwide destinations which Collette explores.

“This natural disaster is the largest in Japan’s history and with the prospect looming of a nuclear catastrophe, our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and colleagues in Japan,” said Daniel Sullivan, Jr., Collette Vacations’ President and CEO. “We want to help in any way we can to engage our employees, travelers and all friends in travel to unite in a common goal to offer assistance to this devastated country.”

Less than a month ago, The Collette Foundation pledged its support to relief efforts in Christchurch, New Zealand, working through the Salvation Army’s earthquake response program.

The Collette Foundation will be matching all donations made by employees, partners and friends up to $10,000USD. As always, 100% of all donations made through the Collette Foundation will go directly to those in need. If you’d like to join in the efforts of the Collette Foundation and make a donation you can do so by writing a check (please write ‘Japan’ in the memo line) payable to the Collette Foundation, and mail to Collette Vacations, 180 Middle Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
