Collette Vacations contributes to Joplin, MO, disaster relief
06/15/2011 - Pawtucket, Rhode Island … Collette Vacations today announced they have donated $5,000 in disaster relief aid to the victims of last month’s tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri. The Rhode Island-based Collette works with many travel agencies in Missouri and, specifically, the Joplin area.In making the announcement, Lynne Kelly, community relations manager for Collette, said, “Our hearts go out to our travel agent partners and their families - and all the people affected by the tornado’s devastation. We hope our contribution encourages other travel companies to follow suit as families and businesses begin the hard work of rebuilding their lives and livelihood.”
The donation was made through Collette’s Alice I. Sullivan Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm that supports local and national initiatives. Created in 1997, the foundation is named after the matriarch of the Collette family, Mrs. Alice I. Sullivan. The donation in disaster relief was made through the non-profit Convoy of Hope (www.convoyofhope.org). This organization is on the ground bringing much needed emergency relief to the victims of Joplin.
