Collette Vacations Travels to Israel for its Annual Sales Meeting

03/12/2010 - President Daniel J. Sullivan recognizes Bob Koch as its Sales Person of the Year.

Collette Vacations recently brought 80 of its employees to Israel and Jordan for its annual sales meeting held February 20 to March 3, 2010. The group, including 70 district sales managers, executives and staff, toured historic sites in Israel like the Sea of Galilee, Mt. of Beatitudes, Masada, and the Dead Sea. Cities visited included Tel Aviv, Tiberias, Haifa, Acre, the ancient crusader city and UNESCO World Heritage site, and Jerusalem. In addition, the group crossed the border into Jordan to visit the stone-carved city of Petra and the immense desert of Wadi Rum.

“This was a remarkable opportunity to familiarize and train our sales staff on the wonders of Israel so they feel confident presenting it to travel agents as a destination for their clients to consider,” said Dan Sullivan, Jr., Collette Vacations president and CEO. “’We know because we go’ is really applicable here. Until you have seen these ancient sites and met the warm, welcoming people of Israel, it is easy to fall back on the comfortable, traditional destinations.”

The Israel Ministry of Tourism played host for Collette’s visit and reports that 2009 was the second best year ever in the history of Israel tourism. “It was such a delight to welcome Collette Vacations to Israel and to showcase our beautiful country,” said Arie Sommer, Consul, Tourism Commissioner for North and South America, Israel Ministry of Tourism. “Sharing our homeland with them—the unique sites, places, and people—means they now have the resources and first-hand information on travel to and within Israel.”

In response to the predicted growing demand for travel to Israel, Collette announced that it will add two new tours to Israel in 2011, in addition to its Israel: A Journey to the Holy Land tour. The first is a religious tour, Pilgrimage to Israel, in which Mass will be celebrated daily; while the other new tour, Israel & Jordan, will trace the footsteps of history in these two fascinating countries.

On the final evening of the meeting, the historic King David Jerusalem Hotel was the setting for the company’s awards banquet honoring its top producing district sales managers. Taking the honor of Collette Sales Person of the Year for the 16th consecutive year was Bob Koch of Pennsylvania. Ryan Mikucki, district sales manager from Canada, came in first in 2009 sales for most revenue growth; and Ed McKenna of Michigan placed first in most revenue.
